“How can I be a FLY Girl?”
I hear this a lot. I’m not sure if it’s coming from curiosity or from being judgmental, but the short and sweet of it is, any girl can be a FLY Girl. But let’s get into the meaning behind the movement.
You are a FLY Girl when you decide to First. Love. Yourself. That my queens is a FLY girl and to go hand in hand with that. when you love yourself first, you know you’re fly, regardless of how anyone else feels about you! You know that you are FLY Enough!
Seriously, as women its so easy for us to get caught up in the roles we play, the needs of others we care about, and the obligations we have to fulfill that we forget about us! And to be honest, I think I was the poster child for that. I use to cater to, fight for, and stress over everybody and everything else, giving myself the crumbs that were left over. But that’s in my past.
BUT TRY ME TAH DAY!
Enough was enough. Trec was tired and myself said Trec, Trec said huh? Self said I’m Tired! And in that instance, in that moment, I kept hearing…first love yourself enough! It was the sweetest melody on repeat so I began to body it.
So what birthed this movement? November 2019, after my divorce, I was going through the motion and emotions that come with ending one chapter and starting another.
Picture this, a time of fellowship on a girls trip, shout out Brown Queens Unite; the conversations and thoughts shared pierced my soul and it was like Trec you need to learn some things baby girl.
This list could go on for days, but as you can see, I was on a journey to love myself to know all of these things and more. I was on the path of self-discovery and all the ups and downs that are a part of that process.
Above all else I know this: I am fearfully and wonderfully made and braking news: I AM THE PRIZE! #PeriodPooh
As I’m writing this I can’t help but smile as I think about my growth because a year ago, I wasn’t this FLY Girl you see today. There was not FLY Girl movement and you couldn’t tell me that I would give birth to one.
See when we’re going through things, we tend to feel alone, like no one can relate.
This is why I wanted to create the whole movement and the FLY Enough Text Community. We’re here to let you know, FLY Girl you are not alone.
Answer me this…has anyone ever said anything to you and you didn’t realize how much you needed that word until you received it? Girllllll, me too! And let me tell you, I am so thankful and grateful that My God knows just what I need and when I need it.
